Alfredo Ramos Martínez was born in 1871 in Monterray, Nuevo León, Mexico.
Recognized by many as the father of Mexican Modernism, Ramos Martínez is known for his paintings depicting traditional Mexican people and scenes depicting the Mexico. He is also known for his drawings on newspaper, which he began using after running out of drawing paper while living and working in Los Angeles, California.
Ramos Martínez spent most of his life in Mexico, Paris, and Los Angeles where he died in 1946.
